Autopilot (autonomous software)

Autopilot describes autonomous software that carries supported routine tasks through owner-set rules — collecting authorized rent, retrying eligible failed payments, staging vetted-vendor routes through cost caps and acknowledgement checks — without a person driving every intake step. The owner defines the boundaries; inside them, supported work is coordinated and recorded.

The word borrows from aviation, where an autopilot flies the plane within an envelope the pilot defines and hands control back at its edges. Applied to a rental, routine operations move through configured workflow boundaries while anything above your limits, or anything legally sensitive, waits for you. Autopilot is not 'no human' — it is 'human above the loop, not inside every step.'

This is the opposite of a copilot, which drafts and suggests but leaves execution to you. Aptoria is designed around the autopilot model, paired with bounded autonomy and a blocked floor; its routine automation and the soft-commit window for money movements are planned.

Software that carries a task from start to finish on its own, within the rules and spending limits the owner sets, rather than merely drafting it for a human to run. It is the counterpart to copilot AI: a copilot suggests, an autopilot does, and asks only when an action falls outside its bounds.
